- Most of agree on tolerance toward other viewpoints as long as all viewpoints are allowed to be expressed openly and fairly and without suppression by the government or someone more powerful than us.
- Most of us agree on the importance of supporting the brave men and women who serve in the armed forces protecting us, and we agree that the families of the these soldiers should also receive our full measure of support and appreciation.
- Most of us agree that paying our fair share of taxes to the government is our duty provided that those taxes are not wasted by incompetent and corrupt politicians; and further provided that all citizens, even the politically powerful, pay their fair share as well.
- Most of us agree that a government which is "of the people, by the people, and for the people" is a government whose elected officials are required to be honest and responsive to the citizens who elected them and who pay their salaries.
Sadly, most of us agree that these Common Sense principles in which we believe are not shared by the majority of our elected officials.
- Politicians now routinely demonize, marginalize, ridicule, and dismiss viewpoints they hope to suppress.
- Politicians play "politics" with the needs of our soldiers and spend millions of dollars on their own comfort and "pork" projects rather than spending that money on body armor for troops. or cell phones so a soldier can call home occasionally, or a myriad of other legitimate needs that our troops are being denied.
- Politicians, protected by their colleagues, can ignore paying their own taxes or tax penalities while the IRS "relentlessly" pursues single mothers with two children making $16,000 annually.
- Politicans are arrogant, corrupt, and generally nonresponsive to citizens. Politicans serve their political party which supports their only goal: reelection. (And, should an incumbent be defeated, the party finds another government appintment for them until they land that lucrative lobbyist position.)
This is not the "common sense" the majority of us want from our government. In fact, it is insanity. Spending totally out of control, deficits that our grandchildren will still be paying for when they retire, and a coven of corrupt, arrogant, career politicans who ignore us at will.
We must take our government back and restore Common Sense where none currently exists - Washington, D.C.
